The Judge Returns

Lee Han-young, son-in-law of Haenal Law Firm, is consumed by guilt after his corrupt rulings lead to a Gojin Chemical victim's suicide and the death of the victim's mother. He defies Haenal's order to manipulate the trial of S Group chairman Jang Tae-sik and instead sentences him, only to later find himself standing as a defendant in court.

Framed for murder, Lee Han-young escapes court but is killed by an assassin tied to Chief Justice Kang Sin-jin. He awakens ten years earlier as a district judge and realizes he has been given a second chance. He resolves to change the future and destroy Kang Sin-jin and Jang Tae-sik before they rise further.

Back in the past, Lee Han-young faces serial killer Kim Jin-han, whom he once wrongly released. Determined to correct his mistake, he ensures Kim Jin-han cannot kill again. This marks the start of his mission to undo his past rulings and pursue true justice.

Lee Han-young meets Han Na-yeong and her grandmother Park Mal-rye, trying to prevent their future tragedy. He reconnects with Yu Se-hee and takes control of their relationship. With reporter Song Na-yeon, he exposes an insurance murder case and begins forming alliances against future corruption.

Lee Han-young pursues a stolen military corruption ledger while refusing relocation to Seoul. He observes prosecutor Kim Jin-a arrest Jang Tae-sik and recognizes her as a future ally. With Seok Jeong-ho, he searches for the ledger while facing assassin Gwak Sun-won, linked to his previous death.

Lee Han-young secures the ledger and infiltrates Kang Sin-jin's circle by pretending loyalty. He accepts a mission targeting lawmaker Woo Gyo-hoon, while Baek Yi-seok brings him into Seoul's power structure. He begins operating inside a deeper conspiracy involving state and judicial elites.

Lee Han-young exposes Woo Gyo-hoon's daughter's drug scandal to gain leverage and recruits Yu Se-hee and Yu Seon-cheol as allies. Assigned to a sinkhole corruption case, he exposes district chief Choo Yong-jin, rescues victims, and expands his influence within the judicial and political power struggle.

Lee Han-young uses the exposure of Choo Yong-jin to tighten control over evidence networks and judicial insiders. Yu Seon-cheol helps secure political leverage, while Kim Jin-a grows suspicious of Baek Yi-seok's true intentions. Meanwhile, Gwak Sun-won resurfaces under Kang Sin-jin's orders, signaling that Han-young's infiltration is now fully exposed.

Lee Han-young manipulates Park Cheol-woo and Kim Jin-a to investigate financial trails tied to S Group and Jang Tae-sik. However, Baek Yi-seok secretly blocks key evidence. Yu Se-hee discovers inconsistencies in Han-young's strategy, while Seok Jeong-ho uncovers a hidden connection between Kang Sin-jin and Park Gwang-to.

Lee Han-young frames Shin Nam-suk in a corruption leak to destabilize Kang Sin-jin's faction. Im Jeong-sik executes a warning attack against Han-young, confirming he is now a primary target. Yu Ha-na begins secretly aiding Song Na-yeon in uncovering a buried political massacre tied to S Group.

Lee Han-young uncovers that Park Gwang-to's "shadow government" ties extend into Yu Jin-gwang's financial empire. Baek Yi-seok reveals partial truth, forcing Han-young into a temporary alliance with Kim Jin-a and Park Cheol-woo. Seok Jeong-ho is nearly killed by Gwak Sun-won during a data retrieval operation.

Lee Han-young exposes Jang Yong-hyeon's billion-scale slush fund deal tied to illegal trials. Kang Sin-jin retaliates by manipulating Park Gwang-to against Han-young. Yu Se-hee is briefly abducted by Im Jeong-sik, forcing Han-young to abandon legal strategy and move toward direct confrontation.

Lee Han-young orchestrates the downfall of Park Gwang-to using testimony from Yu Ha-na and Song Na-yeon's broadcast evidence. Kim Jin-a exposes judicial bribery involving Park Cheol-woo. However, Kang Sin-jin activates emergency judicial control, placing Han-young under national arrest orders.

Lee Han-young confronts Kang Sin-jin in a final judicial showdown. With evidence from Seok Jeong-ho, Kim Jin-a, and Yu Seon-cheol, he exposes the entire shadow government, including Jang Tae-sik and Park Gwang-to. Kang Sin-jin is arrested, and Han-young survives his fate, finally reclaiming his identity as a judge committed to true justice.
