My Annoying Roommate

Su Qiao, 'Sister Qiao,' runs a store with her uncle. After a fall while stopping Lin Zilu from stepping in the paddies, they argue. Later, he becomes her new deskmate, and Char Siu causes chaos in class. After school, her uncle arranges for Lin to stay at her house, forcing her into a smaller room.

Lin Zilu and Su Qiao clash in the morning. She teases him about hiding a secret for coming to Fugua Village. On their way to school, she begs him to keep their 'cohabitation' a secret. At school, Lin Zilu reveals it. Later, he's tricked into helping at a farm, frees Char Siu, and opens up to Su Qiao.

Lin Zilu, once 'Mumu,' returns to Fugua Village, but Su Qiao doesn't recognize him. After a mix-up where she enters his room, she tattles to his father, making him help with debt collection. Lin exposes the village chief's smoking debt, causing trouble. After farm chores and an argument, they make up.

Su Qiao drags Lin Zilu to harvest clams to pay off debt. She meets A Yue, a charming actor, and helps him film a vlog, leaving Lin Zilu frustrated. Later, after setting off fireworks, Lin Zilu realizes he likes her. A Yue hints at Lin Zilu's hidden depression, leaving Su Qiao confused about him.

Su Qiao mistakenly thinks Lin Zilu's frustration is depression, organizing a search when he goes missing. After his viral "Oyster Brother" video, she misinterprets his indifference to gifts as a sign of deeper sadness. After a chaotic search, she apologizes, realizing her overzealous protection was misguided.

As summer nears, Lin Zilu sells his music to help Su Qiao buy a car for her uncle. However, Su Qiao refuses to go to the city due to her "Fugua Village Syndrome" linked to her grandmother's death. After a tense car purchase and argument, Su Qiao nearly causes an accident, but Lin Zilu saves her just in time.

Lin Zilu helps Su Qiao confront her fear of the city, tied to grief over her late grandmother. After buying a car, Su Qiao gives the keys to her uncle. With exams looming, Lin Zilu and Guan Jingjing help Su Qiao and Fang Liang study. Su Qiao recalls a childhood confession, and they both pass.

Summer kicks off with a creek water fight. Su Qiao plans to skip senior year and run the store. The group visits Grandma Liu's house, gets spooked by a prank, and pranks A Yue and Yu He. At the "Wishing House," they make wishes but are inspired by Su Qiao's uncle, only to learn the store's being demolished.

Su Qiao refuses the demolition of the store, kicks her uncle out, and demands to split the household. Her uncle stays with Grandma Liu, drinking and reminiscing. The next morning, Su Qiao moves out, confronting her uncle with the village chief as a witness. She clashes with Lin Zilu, feeling misunderstood.

Su Qiao, Fang Liang, Wang Nianyu, and Lin Zilu make pineapple cans. Fang Liang, heartbroken over Guan Jingjing's blind date, tries three confession styles with Su Qiao and Lin Zilu's help. He learns it was a university visit. Later, Su Qiao finds Lin Zilu's secret Weibo, confirming their feelings.

Lin Zilu learns Su Qiao made canned food for him, her childhood friend "Mumu." Wang Nianyu continues his village diary, and Fang Liang practices basketball to join Guan Jingjing at university. Su Qiao defends Lin Zilu against his father's criticism, leading to a rare moment of bonding between them.

Su Qiao decides to study for the college entrance exam to attend the same university as Lin Zilu. Before he leaves, she releases fireflies for him to remember her. A year later, Fang Liang confesses to Guan Jingjing, and Lin Zilu returns with a cake, explaining his silence.
