Kujima: Why Sing, When You Can Warble?

One autumn, on his way home from school, Arata saw a mysterious creature searching for coins under a vending machine. This creature, which claimed to be from Russia, called itself "Kujima" and said it wanted to try Japanese cuisine. So, Arata took Kujima home and cooked his first-ever tamagoyaki.

While Arata goes to school and Miyoshi and Masaomi go to work, Kujima is responsible for watching the house. He leisurely watches TV in the living room, occasionally flipping through a dictionary of proverbs, and before he knows it, it's noon. He tries making fried noodles, but somehow it doesn't turn out well. Seeing Kujima's actions, Suguru begins to describe him using proverbs...?

Makoto, Arata's childhood friend, came to visit the Kouda family. Upon seeing the unexpectedly large Kujima, who could speak, Makoto began to doubt whether Kujima was truly a bird. Kujima, in turn, provoked Makoto in Russian. Seeing the two on the verge of conflict, Arata intervened and urged them to shake hands and make peace.

Recalling his life with Maxim makes Kujima feel homesick, and he expresses his desire to return to Russia. Seeing Kujima in tears, Arata understands his feelings and informs Miyoshi and Masaomi about the situation. The family decides to bid farewell to Kujima. On the day of departure, Suguro expresses his gratitude to Kujima.

The Kouda family's living room has set up a kotatsu, and Kujima, captivated by it, spends most of his time nestled there, resulting in him becoming rather plump. On the other hand, ever since Kujima arrived, Arata has neglected his studies to play. Now he is reaping the consequences, scoring 38 on his finals. Consequently, he decides to invite Makoto over for a study session.

At the end of the year, the Kouda family, except Suguro, will be heading to Grandma's place for a three-day stay. Kujima enjoys the end-of-year countryside by taking walks in the mountains and eating New Year's soba noodles. He even borrows Arata's phone to call Suguro. The next day, Kujima gets choked while sneaking mochi during the mochi-pounding.

Arata left his winter break homework in the classroom, so he decided to go to school to retrieve it with Kujima. To avoid unwanted attention, he has Kujima wear a horse head mask and dress in a suit to disguise himself as a person. However, as they are about to head back after retrieving the homework, Kujima runs into a teacher…!?

As the university entrance exams approach, Suguro sighs frequently and seems distressed, which somewhat concerns Arata. Thankfully, Suguro returns to his usual self during a playful argument with Kujima. However, after the exams conclude, Kujima comes to Arata and says, "Suguro has been looking scary lately."

Upon waking up, Arata discovered that a thick layer of snow had turned the streets into a white wonderland. An excited Kujima learned about the Japanese way of playing in the snow. Meanwhile, the mood in the Kouda family became somewhat gloomy after knowing that Suguru had been rejected by all the private universities he had applied to.

Suguru's first-choice school admission results are soon to be announced. Seeing him anxious and hesitant to check the results, Kujima volunteers to help him check. However, Suguru refuses his offer and decides to check on his own. Meanwhile, Arata rushes home right after school for the results. Upon returning, he sees Kujima gracefully performing ballet in the living room.

As the season transitions into spring, Arata is becoming increasingly aware that the day of separation from Kujima is drawing near. Seeing Arata so downhearted, Makoto visits the Kouda family to invite them to go flower-viewing in the mountains. However, Arata lacks interest and declines the offer, but Makoto insists and forces both Arata and Kujima to come along.

The day had come for Kujima to set off back to Russia. Arata packed away his bedding, Suguru and Masaomi taught Kujima how to fold paper, while Miyoshi prepared rice balls for him. Every member of the Kouda family was bidding farewell to Kujima in their own way. As the moment of parting came, Kujima suddenly burst into tears.
