    Tilka Manjhi was a freedom fighter from the Santhal community who stood against the East India Company.British sent a huge army to catch Tilka Manjhi but Tilka, along with the villagers, fought his way back to the village. Few villagers backstabbed Tilka by informing his whereabouts to the Britishers. Britishers caught Tilka and dragged him from Sultanganj to Bhagalpur and hanged him to death.
