On their last day of summer vacation in Okinawa, Koro Sensei cooks up a “test of courage” scheme in the hopes of pushing his students to fall in love with each other and pair off. When it fails miserably, he and the gang turn their sights to Irina, who clearly has a thing for Karasuma. After that scheme fails, Koro Sensei invites everyone to a Summer Festival.

Kaede and the gang concoct a gigantic, explosive pudding in the schoolyard. Koro Sensei smells the ruse, but is happily impressed at Kaede’s formidable ingenuity. Later, Karasuma puts them through their paces in a game of parkour-meets-cops-n’-robbers that Koro Sensei takes a little too seriously.

When Koro Sensei gets the better of Itona, Shiro condemns leaves him to die. Itona’s obsessive determination to win was the only thing keeping the tentacle graft from destroying his nervous system. Left alone, he runs amok through the city, destroying cell phone shops to get back at the competitors that drove his father out of business.

Itona shows an aptitude for electronics when he unveils a custom-built RC tank he plans to kill Koro Sensei with. The boys are eager to get onboard and propose a number of tweaks, all towards sneaking a peak under the girls’ skirts. When the class decides to use only the codenames given to them by each other, the results are mixed.

When the principal’s son discovers Isogai working a part-time job in violation of school policy, he challenges E Class to a pole-toppling competition in return for keeping quiet. While his adoring classmates are pumped for the match, Isogai has his doubts. Not only is their team half the size of Asano’s, their competition includes a slew of burly foreign exchange students.

Drunk on their newfound confidence and power, the students inadvertently injure the principal of a rundown, cut-rate preschool. Koro Sensei decides to teach his students a lesson in humility by volunteering them to work with the children in the old man’s charge.

The kids put Karasuma up to giving Irina flowers as a belated birthday present, a scheme that backfires and sends her packing. When a helpful florist turns out to be the infamous Reaper himself, E Class realizes they’ve walked into an elaborate trap.

When Koro Sensei and Karasuma arrive on the scene to rescue the kids, they quickly learn the Reaper might be more than they bargained for. With Irina on his side, the ice-cold assassin is prepared to let the entire class become collateral damage. Trapped in a cell, the kids and Koro Sensei watch Karasuma fight their captor barehanded. but the Reaper has more than a few deadly tricks up his sleeve.

When Nagisa’s psychotic, overbearing mother schedules a one-on-one with Karasuma to discuss moving her son out of E Class, Koro Sensei masquerades as his colleague (poorly) and gives the woman a succinct dressing down. Undaunted, she drugs Nagisa’s meal and leads him to the E Class building after hours, ordering him to burn it down.

When the Kunugigaoka Autumn festival rolls around, E Class decides to make the most of the ingredients readily available to them on the mountain and open an organic café. Sales are slow, particularly compared to A Class’s dazzling event schedule, but when Nagisa’s “old flame,” Yuji from Okinawa shows up.

When the principal resorts to methods even more questionable than usual to demolished E Class at the end-of-term exams, Asano asks his rivals to prove his father wrong. Prepared for a bitter head-to-head on paper, the gang uses Koro Sensei’s tactic of going in guns blazing. But the questions get harder and harder…

When E Class soundly beats out A Class on the end-of-term exams, incensed, Principal Asano proposes a cruel game that might very well be the end of Koro Sensei…

Koro Sensei blows through Principal Asano’s “game” with ease, leaving the man to face his own grenade. Looking back on his teaching career in what he assumes are his final moments, the Principal reflects on what drove him to focus on strength: a beloved student driven to suicide by bullies.

Out of the blue, Kaede reveals her tentacles. Gone is the frail, ditzy little girl her classmates knew and loved. In her place is a grown woman – retired actress Haruna Mase, bent on avenging the death of her sister, E Class’ former teacher. Unlike Itona, however, Kaede’s tentacles grew unregulated by Shiro, who tried to warn her of the dangers involved in cultivating them on her own.

In a bold move, Nagisa deflects Kaede’s bloodlust with a kiss long enough for her tentacles to be removed. Recovering from a near-fatal wound to his heart, Koro Sensei reveals to the class that he was the first Reaper, betrayed by his protégé and delivered to the experiments of madman, Shiro (Yanagisawa).

Koro Sensei continues to tell his tragic backstory. Just as he and Aguri’s friendship begins to strengthen, a similarly endowed lab rat on the moon reached critical mass and exploded, forming the permanent crescent we know today. Emboldened by his expiration date (he was given one year until his body followed the rat’s example, taking the Earth with him), the Reaper escaped and ran amok.

When Nagisa proposes to save Koro Sensei rather than assassinate him, the class is divided. Karma in particular takes umbrage at the suggestion they not see things through to the bitter end. Overhearing the fracas, Koro Sensei proposes the matter be settled via paint gun battle: whichever side wins decides whether he lives or dies.

Nagisa and Karma fight it out brutally over whether to kill Koro Sensei or save him. Reflecting on how they came to be friends, the pair ultimately come to a draw. Karma forfeits, the Blue Team wins. Attempting to track down top-secret research pertaining to Koro Sensei, the kids discover they may have to stow away on a rocket en route the International Space Station.

The class elects Nagisa and Karma to hijack the International Space Station, and, after successfully infiltrating the experimental rocket’s control room with Ritsu’s help, sees the pair off safely. Once onboard, Nagisa and Karma make a bold move for the necessary data. The astronauts comply out of respect for two daring kindred spirits.

Nagisa wrestles with the prospect of becoming a teacher while Kaede wrestles with how to give him customary Valentine’s Day chocolates. Koro Sense and Principal Asano talk about the future. Irina treats Karasuma to dinner to pick his brain about where all of this is going.

When the government tries –and fails—to obliterate Koro Sensei with a laser beam from space, the next step is to confine him to the mountain while the laser charges to full power over the course of seven days. A media frenzy ensues, casting Koro Sensei in the role of monster. The kids are devastated to learn they’re out of the loop and resolve to take matters into their own hands.

The kids use everything they’ve learned from Koro Sensei to infiltrate the schoolyard where he’s waiting to be zapped. Happy to see them, Koro Sensei nevertheless prepares his beloved students for the inevitable: the hour of his death approaches. As the class celebrates its teacher’s adopted birthday, Yanagisawa appears with a new henchman in tow: Reaper 2.0

Yanagisawa and Reaper 2.0 bear down on Koro Senei and the children, forcing Nagisa to realize they’ve been their teacher’s greatest weakness all along. Koro Sensei fights against this for all he’s worth but loses ground. Kaede jumps in to buy him time and is gruesomely killed. This sends Koro Sensei into a white-hot rage that not even Yanagisawa anticipated.

Exhausted from battle, Koro Sensei collapses. As midnight closes in, the kids must decide whether to leave Koro Sensei’s fate to the government, or do the deed themselves. As his beloved students hold him down, Nagisa prepares to strike the fatal blow. By way of a heartfelt goodbye, the extraordinary teacher calls roll one last time.
