Aamna narrates how Aafsa and Rahil's marriage began - a union of deep love and art. Rahil, a painter, and Aafsa, a poet, shared romantic verses and promises in their early days. Their all-consuming love, however, created a vulnerability that traditional family members would soon exploit.

External pressures erode the marriage. Rahil's father blames Aafsa for business losses, while his mother guilts him by implying Aafsa neglects her duties. Caught between work frustration and family manipulation, Rahil turns his anger on Aafsa, calling her jinxed and blaming her for his failures.

In a moment of blind rage, Rahil utters 'I divorce you' three times - instantly regretting it. In court, Aamna argues neither Rahil nor Aafsa were wrong; the law is. She concludes it's too convenient for a life to be destroyed over a small argument simply because one word, spoken thrice, can shatter a marriage.
