Sword Art Online Alicization War of Underworld

Six months have passed since the fierce battle against Administrator. Kirito has lost his right arm and his mind has been left an empty husk. Alice has brought him to the outskirts of her hometown, Rulid Village, and the two have been living there quietly. Gazing out at the world that she’d saved with Kirito, Alice reflects on all that’s happened till now.

A force from the Dark Territory has launched an attack on Rulid Village. When Alice rushes over on her dragon, Amayori, she finds the villagers unable to flee the goblins because of the Taboo Index, preventing them from defying the Chief Man-at-Arms’ orders.

The mysterious organization that carried out the attack on the Ocean Turtle… It turns out to be a secret unit under orders from the U.S. National Security Agency. And its leader, Gabriel, has battled Kirito and Sinon before… In order to steal the artificial soul created with the Soul Translation technology, A.L.I.C.E. = Alice, Gabriel launches a secret plan to find Alice in the Underworld.

Shasta, knight’s commander of the Dark Territory, had intended to use Administrator’s death as an opportunity to propose a truce with the Human Empire. But his plans are thwarted by Emperor Vecta’s return. Gabriel has used Vecta’s account to log into the Underworld. And he orders the forces of darkness to launch an all-out war against the Human Empire in order to find A.L.I.C.E.

The forces of darkness are closing in on the Eastern Gate, which separates the Human Empire from the Dark Territory. Resolving to fight for humankind, Alice joins the Human Empire forces, bringing Kirito with her. But while the Dark Territory forces boast overwhelming numbers, only 13 Integrity Knights are available to fight for the Human Empire.

As the final load test has begun, the Eastern Gate has collapsed. Led by Gabriel, now Emperor Vecta, the massive army of darkness pushes on towards the Human Empire. Countering them is only the elites of the Human Empire forces, split up into several units. Despite being hopelessly outnumbered, the Human Empire forces’ Integrity Knights proceed to mow down the enemy with their devastating power.

Integrity Knight Renly Synthesis Twenty-Seven has been tasked with protecting the Supply Corps, but for the first time ever, he flees his post in battle, terrified. Because of this, the Dark Forces’ goblins are allowed to invade the Supply Corps tent where Kirito is.

The powerful spell unleashed by the Integrity Knight, Alice, inflicts severe casualties on the Dark Forces, and the tactic pulls them back from the brink of disaster. As the Human Empire forces revels in their victory, Alice encounters an enemy straggler, and learns that Emperor Vecta's objective is to find the Priestess of Light.

Now that he’s seen Alice, Gabriel orders his entire army to charge, in order to capture her. The Dark Forces’ elite Pugilists Guild arrives ahead of the main army in pursuit of Alice and the raid unit. Alice and Bercouli try to come up with a strategy to counterattack the pugilists, whose bodies have been hardened using Incarnation.

Asuna has logged into the Underworld using the super-account of Stacia, the Goddess of Creation. She unleashes a rainbow-hued aurora-like Sacred Art that causes landscape alteration, looking much like the manifestation of a goddess as she does so. After she descends, she is reunited with Kirito, thanks to Ronie and Tiese.

There is now a bottomless ravine, created by Asuna’s landscape manipulation. The pugilists and dark knights have been attempting to cross the ropes to the other side, where the Human Empire forces await them. Seeing this as an opportunity, Bercouli mobilizes the raid unit.

It was Gabriel’s strategy to give American VRMMO players access to the Dark Territory’s dark knight accounts. Diving into the Underworld one after another, they begin slaughtering the Artificial Fluctlights, whether they’re with the Human Empire Army or the Dark Forces. Realizing that the murderous mob is made up of players from the real world, Asuna frantically tries to stop them.

Sinon has logged in with the super-account of Solus, the Sun Goddess. She rescues Asuna and the others at the last minute from the American players surrounding them. Using one of the Solus account’s unique powers, Unlimited Flight, she heads off in pursuit of Alice, who’s been abducted by Vecta. Meanwhile, Leafa logs in with the super-account of Terraria and descends to the Underworld.

Despite its modest size, the Human Empire Army and Asuna valiantly battle the wave of American players surging towards them. But they’re hopelessly outnumbered, and the Human Empire soldiers start to fall one after another. Asuna, too, is covered with wounds, and it’s only a matter of time before she also collapses.

Bercouli pursues Vecta, who’s abducted Alice. After a long, vicious battle, Bercouli unleashes his secret sword skill, Uragiri, and finally defeats Vecta. But having sustained severe injuries himself, Bercouli draws his last breath in Alice’s arms. Though she’s devastated by his death, Alice makes up her mind to head to the World’s End Altar.

The traitor inside Rath turns out to be a researcher named Yanai. A man who once worked for Nobuyuki Sugou, he’s since infiltrated Rath in order to leak information to the American National Security Agency. When Higa attempts to restore Kirito, Yanai tries to thwart the operation by holding him at gunpoint. Meanwhile in the Underworld, Sinon, as Solus, is confronting Vecta, who has logged back in.

The assault by the ALO reinforcements sputters, and Asuna and the others succumb to Vassago and the Chinese/Korean players. Discovering the catatonic Kirito, Vassago kicks his wheelchair over to provoke him, but Kirito still doesn’t regain consciousness. Enraged, Klein lunges at Vassago, only to be pinned down by enemy players. Jeering at Klein, Vassago swings his weapon, the Mate-Chopper.

Despite putting up a gallant fight, Kirito’s former enemy, Eiji, is defeated by Vassago. Far off to the south, Sinon manages to inflict severe damage on Gabriel, but her strength has been sapped. Leafa, in a deadly struggle in the center of the Underworld, collapses after wiping out the entire army of American players. And Asuna, her situation now hopeless, gazes at Kirito lying on the ground.

Escaping his nightmares, Kirito regains consciousness at last. With the Night-Sky Blade in his right hand and the broken Blue Rose Sword in his left, he faces off against Vassago, armed with the Mate-Chopper, now enormous in size after absorbing the spatial resources of the dead. Suffused with the amplified willpower of their collective hatred, Vassago’s sword attacks surely drive Kirito back.

Along with Asuna, Alice heads to the World’s End Altar, the console for ejecting Fluctlights. To buy them enough time to reach it, Kirito confronts Gabriel, who’s become the incarnation of pitch-black nothingness. Unless he can defeat Gabriel and make it back to the real world before the maximum-acceleration phase begins, Kirito will have to spend the next 200 years in the Underworld.

The maximum-acceleration phase has begun. Alice succeeds in logging out of the Underworld. But despite defeating Gabriel, Kirito doesn’t make it in time. Left behind, he’s in despair, until Asuna, who’s made the choice to stay behind, appears before him.

The “Rath Attack Incident,” secretly masterminded by the American National Security Agency, is now over. Now head of the newly formed Oceanic Resource Exploration & Research Institution, Rinko unveils Alice to the world as an authentic artificial general intelligence. Alice replies to the questions of the reporters who’ve gathered to see her.

Rinko informs Kazuto that Alice is missing. He’s about to rush to the Rath Roppongi branch when the doorbell rings. In a panic, Kazuto throws open the door, only to find a deliveryman there with a huge cardboard box.
