MF GHOST 2nd Season

Ashinoko is known as one of MFG's most difficult courses , Kanata gets an attention flag early. The updated 86 gets Kanata through the upward section of track with its power fully on display. Volcanic ash falls on the track in thick piles, creating the death trap of the second race; Kanata enters this speed trap without losing momentum.

June brings forth a steady rain as the results of the second round of MFG, Ashinoko GT commence. Using the rain to his advantage, Kanata drives in the wet conditions without losing his confidence. Ren watches as he finishes the preliminary race in 10th place. Immediately following the start of the actual race, the rankings undergo a significant change.

Without worry for the wet conditions, Kanata treks on, passing both Ohtani and Taylor in succession. Kanata catches up to Sakamoto's Audi and closes in on third place group made of up high powered machines. The racers rush into Ashinoko's causeway, also known as the Ekiden Straight, the third place group fiercely battle it out, kicking up a spray of water at their opponents.

As the vehicles approach the Ashinoko Skyline gate, the second lap of the race commences. Beckenbauer at the front with Sawatari following behind starts a showdown between the two. Beckenbauer closes in on the death trap: a slippery area of fallen volcanic ash. After both bodies of the vehicles bump in a fierce fight, Sawatari pulls ahead to the front.

The rain continues to fall and the Divine Fifteen's vehicles spin one after the next. Kanata continues his run without missing a beat despite the terrible conditions and joins the third place group, his position steadily improving. The competition between Akabane's Ferrari and Ishigami's Porsche becomes even more fierce until last year's champion, Ishigami backs down.

The last lap, the climax of the race. Kanata has a sudden realization that the rain has stopped at Ashinoko. The change in weather brings out the demon of Ashinoko, a dense fog that steals away visibility. Even under those conditions, MFG headquarters decides to continue on with the race. Knowing this, Kanata sees this as his second chance and informs Ogata of his plan.

Kanata makes steady progress in the fog, coming out in third place. However, the fog clears in the wooded section of the track and he loses his advantage. Widening and maintaining his advantage over the other drivers, Kanata races in solitude. Trailing behind in the high powered machine, Akabane's Ferrari unsettlingly closes the gap. Aiba and Sakamoto have a showdown of fate.

At the end of the battle for life and death in the rain and fog, MFG's second battle, Ashinoko GT comes to a close. Just before the finish line, Kanata's powerless 86 stands its ground in the fierce contest against the opposing Ferrari. Despite it being his second time participating, he receives a lot of attention from the fans.

Kanata recieves a surprise visit from a young man, Sena Moroboshi. He belongs to a group, Dream Project, started by Keisuke Takahashi and is a favorite student of Takahashi's. Sena drives a Toyota GT Supra and will be participating in the next MFG race. Sena declares Kanata his rival before taking his leave. Kanata entrusts Okuyama with making changes to the turbo power unit.

The opening day for the third round of MFG, The Peninsula Manazuru closes in. Kanata carries out touching up the turbo on the 86 to his heart's content and devotes himself to making adjustments before the race. In the meantime, Ren discusses her relationship with Kanata to Kyoko, her coworker. Ren's troubles continue to plague her, would falling in love with Kanata as an MFG Angel be allowed?

Kanata setting a new course record was the push the younger rivals needed. Sawatari and Beckenbauer break course records after one another. The Manazuru preliminary races are at a high level, the likes of which have no been seen before. However, anticipations rise the day before the actual race. When Kanata and Ren are out on the town, an unexpected catastrophe occurs.

The day of the race at The Peninsula Manazuru. Even with his left elbow injured, Kanata makes the decision to enter the race with a shifting handicap. Ren holds a sense of guilt towards Kanata, though continues to work as an Angel. Kanata feels a stinging pain at the start of the race. Sawatari, Beckenbauer and Aiba all notice something strange with Kanata as the 86's rank falls.
