10 Things I Want To Do Before I Turn 40

Lonely office worker Tojo Suzume writes a secret "10 things before 40" list. When his younger coworker Tanaka Keishi finds it, he offers help.

Keishi steps into Suzume's life with surprising warmth. A simple outing for takoyaki becomes an unexpected date, and Keishi's sincerity toward the list gently pulls Suzume closer.

Their weekend date nearly collapses under sudden work, but they push through. Spending the entire day at aquarium, he begins to feel the subtle change in their bond.

During a project, Keishi unexpectedly reunites with an old friend, making Suzume doubt whether he's the right match for him. But a small act of care from Keishi reveals that Suzume's feelings may run deeper than he thought.

While shopping for new clothes, Suzume experiments with styles he's never tried. As they talk about work and past days, Suzume realizes Keishi has been watching him-quietly, attentively-for much longer than he knew.

Suzume grows self-conscious about his weight and wants to slim down before the company's annual health check, putting their list on pause. To keep things moving, Keishi suggests an alternative-trying a sport they can enjoy together.

When Suzume needs a new pillow, the two end up furniture shopping together. Later, at a company dinner, a small slip from Keishi raises the suspicion of a sharp-eyed coworker.

While Suzume is on a business trip to Osaka, the younger colleagues go out drinking and end up opening up about their worries. The next day, an unexpected mistake occurs at the office, and Suzume helps coordinate the fix from afar as everyone pulls together to handle the crisis.

Suzume calls in sick, and Keishi visits to take care of him. Later, during a date, a coworker spots them together, forcing them to cover it up with a lie-one that hurts far more than either expected.

To create some distance from Keishi, Tojo accepts a coworker's invitation to a barbecue. A conversation there leaves him deep in thought about what he truly wants.

Both men wrestle with their feelings separately. Keishi meets old friends for squash, talks with a past crush, and becomes emotional support for a colleague. Meanwhile, Suzume makes a painful decision.

With one final item left on his list-not being alone at 40-Suzume must decide whether to take the step that could change his life.
