This Monster Wants to Eat Me

Hinako Yaoyorozu, who was spending her days in a void, wished for summer to end quickly. One day, she met a girl with eyes as clear as the deep sea. Hinako felt a similar impression of the sea to the girl, and she continued to think of her even during class.

I've come to eat you, Shiori tells Hinako, transferring to the same high school. Perhaps she'll let him die. With this hope in her heart, Hinako is confused by Shiori's complete refusal to eat her. Why doesn't she eat her now? To that question, Shiori replies, "Don't you think humans have their moments when they're ready to be eaten?".

Hinako is taken by Shiori to the summer festival. However, Shiori's selfish yet kind actions bring back memories of "those days", so she shakes off her hand and runs away into the crowd. As they chase after her, Hinako tells Shiori about her memories of "those days" and questions whether Shiori really intends to eat her. To which Shiori responds...

Yokai blood is supposed to be invisible to normal humans, but Miko can see it. Miko also reveals that she has noticed a yokai scent coming from Shiori for some time now... After school, Hinako is playing with Miko, but Shiori appears. She then strongly warns Hinako to get away from Miko, saying, "Get away from her...".

Miku, who has appeared as a fox spirit, and Shiori begin their battle. As they fight, Hinako realizes that the reason Miku has often fallen ill up until now is because she has been nearby but has not been able to eat him... Just before the battle is over, Miku mentions the names of Hinako's family and her feelings for Hinako.

Miku gives up the demonic power equivalent to two tails and decides to stay by Hinako's side. Hinako, knowing that she is a yokai, also says that she will remain friends with her. That night, Shiori learns from Miku that Hinako has been attacked by yokai ever since "that accident," when she lost her family and was on the verge of death.

At the beach in the rain, Hinako witnesses a being that appears to be the embodiment of the grief of a person who died an untimely death. Shortly after, Shiori sees the scars left by the accident. However, Shiori says that what's important is that Hinako is Hinako, rather than what she looks like. A few days later, Miku asks Hinako to be the manager for the basketball club training camp.

Shiori hears from Miku about the scars on Hinako's body. It turns out that it was a miracle she even survived, and how painful it must be to live alone and suffer... Meanwhile, while talking with Ayame, Hinako begins to see her as her late mother. Hearing this, Ayame also reveals that she herself was once a "mother". Shiori hears from Miku about the scars on Hinako's body.

A human with your blood mixed in it is too unpleasant to be eaten. Ayame's words stuck in her head, and Hinako goes to Shiori directly to confirm the truth. Does Shiori's blood run through her body, and has she ever met her before? In response to this question, Shiori begins to talk about an incident that occurred shortly before "that accident".

Shiori begins to tell Miku a story from the past. She lived with a child in a fishing village. However, when she gave her flesh to the child, she became resentful. She realized that she was an outsider to the world, unable to connect with anyone. Decades later, when she met Hinako, she felt like she had been invited inside the world. And that feelings for Hinako began to blossom...

Hinako skips school, saying she's feeling a bit under the weather, but Miku realizes she's faking it. She heads to Hinako's house alone. There, she reveals that Shiori told her about the past and tells her how happy she is that Hinako is alive, but... Hinako blurts out that she wanted to die with her family.

Shiori tells Hinako about the time they met ten years ago and her true prayer. Shiori just wanted Hinako to live. She had only been saying what Hinako wanted as an excuse to keep her alive.

As a thank you for helping out at the basketball club's training camp, Miku receives an offer to stay at a hot spring inn from a member of the club, so she invites Hinako and Shiori along on the trip.
