The winter season has begun and Emily finds herself without a permit, while the Kelly brothers begin to mine sans father Brad who has his own small operation right beside them. Meanwhile, Shawn takes a big risk as he heads miles out of town.

Emily is accused of negligence by a greenhorn who quits on the first day, while the Wild Ranger's new sub-dredge has mechanical difficulties. Over on the Bluff, Shawn is the first human to dive in the remote area and he finds it to be different than Nome.

Shawn runs out of fuel and sets out on a dangerous trek to a remote town for supplies, while Kris Kelly deals with an equipment breakdown on the Paddy Wagon. Meanwhile, Emily loses the trust of her crew when she reacts poorly in an emergency situation.

Steve makes a surprise appearance at the Bluff to check his son's progress and the Kelly brothers have a heated argument that threatens to split them up for good. On the Clark, Zeke is frustrated with Emily's greenhorn crew and their abilities.

With only one week left of mining, a huge blizzard surges into Nome, severely limiting the crews from getting on the gold.

The final day of winter mining brings all the crews out early to search for gold, but the Kellys are forced to shut down prematurely when their equipment is stolen.

Summer mining season arrives, and Zeke decides with whom he wants to work, leaving Emily shocked by his answer. Meanwhile, Shawn's first day at sea is interrupted when an essential piece of equipment snaps in half.

Emily's best diver threatens to quit after multiple dredge malfunctions, while Zeke gets his first taste of corporate-life pressures. Meanwhile, diver Derek McLarty spends his life savings gambling on a huge dredge that he hopes will make him rich.

Vern plots to steal a boat from an old nemesis who used to work for him and the Christine Rose loses hydraulics, bringing the whole mining operation to a halt.

Kris and dad Brad come to blows when a fight escalates out of control, while Shawn's son Dylan is hired to dive for Derek on the High Noon.

Shawn is frustrated to find his mining spot depleted of gold-rich ground and Vern is concerned the season is a bust when something unexpected happens to his prized sub-dredge.

Shawn reaches his quota to get to the Bluff, but Steve suddenly changes the terms of the deal, leading to a colossal blow up between father and son. On the High Noon, Derek is short on cash and has only two dredging trips to find as much gold as possible.

Emily swallows her pride and offers ex-friend Zeke a job on the Eroica, while Steve Pomrenke strikes more than gold when mining inland.

The Kellys face off against Zeke's corporate dredge in a bitter gold war and Shawn Pomrenke finally inches closer to his dream of mining at the Bluff.

Zeke agrees to end the season working for Emily as a diver on the Eroica, while Shawn finally relocates the Christine Rose to the Bluff.

The freeze arrives and the crews have one last shot to find gold, but Shawn's losing gamble at the Bluff sends the Christine Rose back to Nome.
