Sumner's adventure turns into a nightmare when one of the crew is murdered. There's no proof, but Sumner can't escape a feeling that Henry Drax is the true culprit.

A discovery by Sumner sends Drax into a murderous rage. Cavendish proves crucial in Baxter and Brownlee's plan. An arctic storm rages and threatens the safety of the ship's crew.

Sumner wakes up in a Mission cabin where a missionary priest has nursed him back to health. With the counsel of the priest and the example of his Inuit, saviours Sumner begins to piece himself together. As spring arrives, Sumner returns to Hull to seek out Baxter, claim his wages, and start the next chapter of his life. But is Sumner walking into a trap? And has he really seen the last of Drax?
