Bill Ward has saved humanity but finds himself further estranged from his family. He bristles at the distressing news that countless people across the world are experiencing a mysterious phenomenon. One such person is MI5 agent Zoe. Meanwhile, a new interstellar discovery leads Catherine to investigate the global crisis.

Astronauts Juliet and Richard witness Catherine’s discovery in space, as alien Adina plans her revenge against humanity. Reeling from a devastating blow, Catherine determines to research the phenomenon with Johannes’ help. An unexpected encounter leads Kariem to investigate the global psychosis, and when Zoe sees the sinister effects of Adina's latest movements, she looks to Bill for answers.

Richard comes to a new realisation about the global phenomenon. Catherine is presented with the opportunity to take a dangerous risk to further her investigation, but is she willing to do so? Meanwhile, a new revelation complicates Martha’s loyalties, and Zoe is forced to make an urgent sacrifice with the help of her newest compatriots.

Confronted with a sobering betrayal, Tom turns to an unlikely alliance, but not before making his own demand. Bill must once again wrestle with the ramifications of his sacrifice, and Zoe takes an extreme step to stop Adina’s plan. Seeing how the interstellar activity is negatively affecting people, Catherine sets out to find a solution but falls into grave danger.

Martha unwittingly sparks a deadly shoot-out at a hideout, leading to a serious injury. In the alternate world, Catherine and Sam arrive at their destination but encounter an unforeseen turn of events. Bill then tries to contact Catherine but when he’s unable to reach her, he turns to a drastic solution.

Bill uncovers more of Catherine's discovery, and cracks the deadly plans of their alien adversaries, but a key moment puts the group in jeopardy. Meanwhile, an altercation between the aliens comes to a tragic conclusion. Catherine secretly enacts a desperate plan against her captors, but will she abandon her companion first?

Under siege in the alternate world, Catherine reaches out to Richard with vital information about the black hole. Martha has a sickening realisation but is forced to watch as Adina proceeds with her destructive plan. The group has a deadly final face-off with Adina, and with little time left on either side of the black hole, our heroes will have to make more painful sacrifices to save the world.

With no other ways to stop Adina's scheme, Bill has little choice but to make a risky gamble whilst his comrades brace themselves for a brutal end. In space, Richard and Juliet can see how close humanity is to utter devastation, but they too must ask themselves how far they're willing to go to help the heroes on earth complete their mission.
