Appu - The Yogic Elephant

Appu wonders how people far apart talk on phones. He travels back to meet Alexander Graham Bell, who is struggling with his invention. Appu realizes sound can travel through a single wire. Bell tries it and succeeds, hearing Watson clearly. Excited, they celebrate the invention, now called the telephone.

Appu visits a city and is amazed by a fast, wheeled "animal" called a car. Curious, he travels with Neena to meet Karl Benz, who is building a horseless carriage. On a test ride with Bertha Benz, Appu adds a brake to stop safely. Benz is thrilled, and the invention is named the car.

After sunset, Appu wonders how homes stay lit. Neena explains electricity powers lights and devices. Curious, they visit Thomas Edison, who shows his filament. It needs a cover, so Appu shapes glass into a bulb. The filament glows and lights the room, completing the light bulb invention.

Appu spots a giant "bird" and learns it's an airplane. Curious, he visits Wright brothers at Kitty Hawk. After a failed attempt, Appu helps fix the plane, adds seats and steering, and creates thrust. The plane finally flies safely. Grateful, the brothers send them home in their airplane.

Appu sees Neena using a computer and learns it can store and process data. Curious, he visits Charles Babbage, who is designing the Analytical Engine. With Ada Lovelace, they explain its parts. Appu adds a printer, helping complete the idea of the modern computer.

Appu sees Neena taking photos and wonders how a camera works. He visits George Eastman, who explains lenses and film. In the darkroom, they see photos develop. When a moment is missed, Appu creates a roll film, helping capture images faster and advancing the camera.

Neena falls ill, and Appu learns infections are cured by penicillin. He visits Alexander Fleming, who nearly discards a key sample. Appu saves it, leading to the discovery. With Howard Florey, the drug is perfected, helping cure Neena and many others.

Appu and friends enjoy a picnic when Neena brings chocolate chip cookies. Curious, Appu visits Ruth Wakefield, who created them by adding chocolate chunks to dough. They taste the delicious result and happily name them chocolate chip cookies.
