The Sentinels

In 1915, soldier Gabriel Ferraud is badly injured on the front lines. He is then selected to join a top-secret army research project: the Sentinels program. With this research comes Dyxenal, a serum that creates a whole new breed of soldier.

Gabriel must join the Sentinels brigade if he ever wants to be reunited with his family, who believe him dead. An attack on the secret military laboratory prompts an investigation, much to the displeasure of Colonel Mirreau, who heads the Sentinels program.

Gabriel's wife, Irène, decides to conduct her own investigation into her husband's alleged death. Captured by French forces, German spy Gruber is interrogated regarding the rival program. While out on a mission, the Sentinels learn of the feats of a German soldier with formidable powers - the Übermensch.

The army's General Staff orders the elimination of this German superhuman, now the Sentinels' primary enemy. The Sentinels head off on his trail, unaware that they are about to face a foe with powers beyond all measure.

Irène follows a lead into a case involving Mirreau, who appears to be linked to a state secret. Meanwhile at Les Damnés, the Baron discovers that Gisèle has fled. After the tragic death of one of his brother in arms, Gabriel wants to return to Paris to see his wife and son.

The Sentinels must free Mazauric, the brain behind the Dyxenal research, before he divulges critical information about the French serum to the German forces. Meanwhile, the Baron receives a visit at his club from Diane, a German spy who pledges to find Gisèle in exchange for a favor.

En route to free Mazauric, de Clermont becomes seriously injured by a German patrol. Djibouti and Gabriel continue their mission without him, unwittingly edging nearer to the Übermensch. At the laboratory, Marthe carries out initial testing on new recruit Aria. This young woman, who had been sentenced to death, receives her first dose of combat-enhancing serum.

Irène is forced to halt her investigation when the risk proves too great. While in German custody, Gabriel and Djibouti find a source of aid. The Sentinels will have to take on the Übermensch, their most formidable foe yet.
