Alison Brooks, a smart and determined 29-year-old deaf woman, works in a police canteen where her lipreading skill catches the attention of DS Ashleigh and DI James, who recruit her for a covert operation to surveil a dangerous gang planning a high-stakes robbery. Alison’s abilities prove crucial, but danger encroaches when she strikes up an unexpected connection with Liam, the gang’s new recruit.

Alison conceals Liam’s admission from the police about why he missed the important meeting the previous night. The gang switches SIM cards, curtailing the police’s ability to track them. Alison is blindsided when Liam shows up at work. Discovering Alison’s connection to Liam, Alison is fired by James as a security risk. Determined to make her own way, Alison agrees to a “date” with Liam in London.

Alison’s role as a police informant grows treacherous as she secretly follows Braden and Liam to a gang meeting, using a speech-to-text app to eavesdrop. The police use Alison’s information to identify the gang’s target – a priceless necklace belonging to billionaire Amir Joshi. Alison and Liam’s affection deepens, and Alison confronts Liam about being involved in illegal activities.

Alison is invited on a lavish hotel trip with Liam, where he insists on adopting false identities. Alison discovers their trip is for Liam to spy on Amir Joshi and his daughter, Reshmi Joshi, the targets of the gang. But Liam is one step ahead and discovers Alison is working for the police by hacking her hearing aids. Instead of confronting her, Liam confesses his love to Alison.

Conflicted about Liam’s offer, Alison reunites with her petty criminal father, Ray, who convinces her to do the right thing - save Liam from himself. When Alison discovers Liam hacked her hearing aids, she realises Liam used her to mislead the police, and rushes to the robbery’s true location – the hotel where Liam spied on the Joshis. With Alison’s arrival, the robbery turns deadly.

Realising that Liam is tracking her, Alison meets him one last time. Liam refuses to surrender and begs Alison to flee the country with him, but Alison turns him down. Heartbroken and unmoored, Alison is kidnapped by Braden, who demands that Liam return the stolen Joshi necklace to spare her life. In a tense showdown, Helen and Braden are arrested, and Liam saves Alison by turning himself in.
