Mak Moon and Moo Myung secretly enter the capital of Silla Kingdom in search for Mak Moon's long lost family but get into trouble with the Royal guards.

Mak Moon loses his life trying to find his family in the Capital and Moo Myung takes it upon himself to avenge his best friend's death.

During a duel with Moo Myung, Sam Maek-jong drops his bracelet and a piece of his cloth; A Ro tells Hwa-gong about the young men in the palace.

Sam Maek Jong is attracted to A Ro and starts to look for her; Moo Myung learns the Korean alphabet from A Ro, and the two fall in love; Moo Myung decides to join Hwarang and change his name to Sun Woo.

The first Hwarang appointment ceremony is held; unlike Su Ho and his friends, who are excited, Ban Ryu has a long face; Sun Woo struggles to save A Ro when Do Go kidnaps her; Sam Maek Jong appears in the ceremony, surprising the Empress Dowager.

A-ro tends to Seon-u after an accident, Ji-dwi has a bad dream, the hwarang go hunting and the queen gives Princess Sookmyung an order.

The hwarang ponder rumors about the king and get a break from training. Ji-dwi gets philosophical and Su-ho helps the queen.

Silla decides to send a delegation to Baekje to avoid war; Wehwa asks the hwarang for volunteers to escort the delegates led by Princess Sookmyung.

The hwarang face dangers on the road; Ahnji gives Jiso news that she does not want to hear; Princess Sookmyung gets an unexpected offer in Baekje.
