This film drama starts and ends with a car crash involving its architect protagonist, Vincent Eastman (Richard Gere). Telling his story through flashbacks, we learn that he has recently started an affair with a young journalist, Olivia, after leaving his wife, Sally. However, Vincent still works with his wife and is considering going back to her and ballet dancer daughter, Meaghan.
